Meet the flower girls

I’ve been very quiet lately, but not completely idle. Apart from a massive amount of professional work that keeps getting in the way of my knitting, I’ve been working on a set of dolls and clothes for some time. Once they were made, the hard part was finding time to photograph them, then write, design and edit the pattern. Now that I’m finally at the end of that process, it suddenly seems very easy!

Meet the Flower Girls – Iris, Daisy, Marigold and Rose. These four little blossoms, standing at 30 cm (12 in) tall, have a full wardrobe, including shoes, hats and a shoulder bag. They even have their own little friend.

One of the main design ideas with these dolls was to make them (and their clothes) all in one piece, so that not only would you not have to spend time sewing little pieces together, but also the little people playing with them cannot inadvertently pull off an arm or leg in their enthusiasm. That has to mean fewer tears for everybody.

They have outfits for spring …

And a fun array of accessories:

If you like, you can download these images in the Flower Girls photo book, so you can peruse them at your leisure. Or visit my Ravelry page or LoveKnitting to buy the pattern. The level of knitting expertise required is intermediate: if you can knit a sock or are otherwise quite adept knitting in the round, these dolls will be a fun project for you.
